PostSubject: Championship Rules   Wed Apr 01, 2009 2:19 am

The following is a guideline to the points systems used for the various championships and the overall results given at each race meeting.

A rider must be a club member to score championship points. Riders racing on a day license will still score points for the overall on the day but be excluded from the championship standings.

Points System
Each race for all classes uses the same points system based on the finishing position as follows: 1st place gets 45 points, 2nd gets 42, 3rd gets 39, 36, 33, 30, 27, 25, 23, 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, 16 down to one point.

Solo Shootout Classes
A rider may only compete in one shootout race per race meeting. Riders of the Veterans championship have their own 3-leg motocross and so cannot ride in the shootout races.
 2-Stroke Open Championship
The 2-Stroke Open Championship is open to all 2-stroke machines of any capacity. There is one 2-stroke only race at each round with points awarded to all finishers. A rider must complete the race i.e. cross the finish line on the last lap to achieve a classification.
 Under 23 Championship
The Under 23 Championship is open to all solo riders under the age of 23 on any class of machine. There is one Under 23 race at each round with points awarded to all finishers. A rider must complete the race i.e. cross the finish line on the last lap to achieve a classification.
 MX2 Championship
The MX2 Championship is open to 250cc four stroke machines only. There is one MX2 race at each round with points awarded to all finishers. A rider must complete the race i.e. cross the finish line on the last lap to achieve a classification.
 MX1 Championship
The MX1 Championship is open to big bore four stroke machines only (i.e. 450cc and above). There is one MX1 race at each round with points awarded to all finishers. A rider must complete the race i.e. cross the finish line on the last lap to achieve a classification.

Veterans Championship
The Vets Championship is open to all solo riders over the age of 35 on any class of machine. The Vets championship runs separately to the solo main and will be in the form of a practise and 3 legged motocross at each round with points awarded per race to all finishers. To achieve an overall on the day the rider must finish all three races. Championship points are still awarded from each individual race rather than the overall position. Should two riders finish the three races with equal points it is the third race result which will determine the overall finishing position.

Solo Finals
A series of Solo qualification heats run are run in the morning to determine which class a rider will race for the two solo finals. Qualification is normally as follows:

Top 13 finishers from each heat will race in the A-Group
Next 13 finishers from each heat will race in the B-Group
Final 13 finishers from each heat will race in the C-Group

There are two solo finals per class (A, B and C) run in the afternoon. To achieve an overall on the day the rider must finish both races. Championship points are still awarded from each individual race rather than the overall position. Should two riders finish both races with equal points it is the second race result which will determine the overall finishing position.

Solo Main Championship
Only solo riders who qualify for the A-Group score points in the Main Championship and points are awarded per
race, based on the rider's finishing position. A rider must finish both races to achieve an overall position on the day.

Solo Clubman Championship
The solo Clubman championship is open to all solo riders with the following exclusions;
 All current ACU registered Experts are excluded from the clubman championship
 Any rider who has been an ACU Expert in the past is excluded from the clubman championship
 Any rider who has finished in the top 10 of the solo main championship in any previous season is excluded
 Last season's Clubman champion is excluded

The top clubman finisher in the A-Group is awarded a points total based on the total number of clubman riders at
the meeting. For example, if there are 100 clubman riders the top finisher is awarded 100 points. The next clubman finisher is awarded 99 and then in single increments down to the last finisher who will receive 1 point. Therefore, the last clubman finisher in the A-Group will receive 1 point more than the winner of B-Group and last place in the B Group scores 1 more than the winner of C-Group.

Championship points are awarded on each individual race rather than the overall positions. A rider must finish at
least one race to score points in the championship.

Quad Main Championship
The Quad Championship consists of a practise and 3 legged motocross at each round. Each rider is awarded
championship points per race and a rider must finish all three races on the day to achieve an overall result. Should two riders finish the three races with equal points it is the third race result which will determine the overall finishing position.
