next year is qualifying going to count as on numerous occasions, if you failed to qualify in group `a` for instance and you were usually in `a`. you got put in a anyway. surely this makes qualifying pointless, im sure the final standings would of been dirrerent if it was followed correctly.if you could not make a meeting for some reason and your rival had a bad quali then you may of got away with it

hear what you r saying had 1 time this year where bike broke down and i didnot finish race so i should of been in c group this would not bother me but i dont think the c group riders would like it as could take away the chance of them getting a top 6 finish
dont know what the answer is for this but know some do hold back in qualifying so that they can get a top 6 finish all i can say 2 that is u will not get any faster by riding in with slower riders moped moped

Hi Tony, Good point about you dominating the C group but this i think is still unfair to other riders. There are a lot of riders who try hard to improve and to see someone mess up the qualy and then get bumped up is annoying. If someone is bumped up someone has to be bumped down so thats not fair.
I know that the final positions would have been quite different if run as should be ...run where you qualify is the fair way....we all make mistakes..! Makes the championship valid.
Maybe it would be better for 3 main champinships to be run A, B ,C and run it like a football league. Run the season and the top /bottom (say 6 riders) get promoted / demoted to the other groups for next season. New riders will have to be assessed for which group they go in. Doing this will dispose of qualifying and maybe allow for an extra race istead , so 3 main races. You can just turn up already knowing what championship you are in.
What do you reckon?
Been out practising at all mate?

I am pretty new to the club only doing 4 meetings, but when it comes to qualifying I just mess up for some reason, at foxholes i qualified for the C group and asked to be moved up to the B's and went on to win that group that day. I know that I should ride in the A's but surely I couldnt of asked to be moved up 2 groups, or could I? I can go for months without riding due to work then go straight to a meeting and maybe thats why I struggle in qualifying. I am not sure but I would feel bad if I couldnt move up when I know that I shouldnt be in that group.
For the point of moving people down because of someone else moving up when they qualified for that group. Maybe you could leave a couple of extra spaces on the gate in the A+B groups to allow for this and only move the rider up if they was in that group at the last meeting.
I dont know the answer to this, but i really enjoyed riding with this club this year and I am looking forward to doing a full season in 2010 and maybe I will get into the A's. Laughing

That doesn't sound like a bad shout actualy, say sort the three groups for the first round on there respective points finish from last season, at the end of the meating top 6 from c and b get promoted for the next meeting and the bottom 6 from a and b get demoted. Only issue being is that we don't get the same 100 odd riders every meeting so would be alot of sorting. On the other hand will take the weight off the shoulders of the poor people who have to sort the positions out on the day.

All good suggestions and valid points but i think some will generate a lot of extra work for the lap scorers, officials and person maintaining the championship tables (me).

I reckon the easiest way is to make qualifying stick so if you mess up then tough, that's where you race on the day. This is how UMX Juniors work but then they do have a point system where you can drop your worst few race results at the end of the season. So, if you do mess up a qualifier, have an off or a puncture all is not lost. This works well but you don't get a true picture of the championship until the end of the season.

All these issues are up for discussion at the AGM so suggest you all get along to The Swan Hotel in Alresford this Wednesday (2nd Dec) at 7:30pm.

I will not be able to get to the AGM because of work reasons, but your ideas sound good. I have just finished a season where your worst 3 out of a 15 round championship get dropped. I agree that you dont get a idea until the end of the season, although me and my friends had our own copy of the championship and after every round you would update it and take the worst 3 round off. if you do it every round you only have to work out if your last meeting was better than your worst 3 or not. it takes about 5min to do for evey rider in your group and you have a idea where you stand after every round.

Unfortuanatly i cant make the AGM but as long the rules are the same for everyone and adhered to then alls good. Qualifying is OK as long as you run where you qualify no matter who it is. Hampshire Motocross is a good friendly club which we all enjoy and it would be a great club if issues like this are resolved as i know this issue of bumping up after qualifying is talk of the pits and a lot of riders are agrieved of it.
It would be great to look back through the whole season knowing that you finished where you finished on merit and not default !
Looking forward to next season ...
